1 person seriously injured after blaze tears through Palolo home

HONOLULU  – A fast-moving blaze tore through a Palolo home on Thursday afternoon, sending one person to the hospital in serious condition.

Authorities said 9th Avenue is closed in the area as firefighters remain on scene.

First responders were called to the home about 1:05 p.m., and the fire was extinguished by 2:21 p.m.

A Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Nearly 40 fire personnel responded to the blaze.

A 45-year-old who was in the home at the time of the fire sustained unknown injuries and was taken to a hospital, paramedics said.

Authorities said the cause of the blaze is under investigation. Fire damages were also not immediately available.
