Groovy Goods Promotes Hippie Lifestyle Through Groovy Gifts

Groovy Goods, a local hippie BOHO shop, hosted a festival recently where they entertained the neighborhood for 2 days, and at the same time donated bags of clothing for Clothing the Children, www.ctchildren.net. The store donated almost 200 shirts at a value of over $3,000. This is not a one-off event as Groovy Goods plan to hold these events on a regular basis, very much in keeping with their goal to give as much back to the community as possible.

People may recognize the name, Groovy Goods from the radio and television commercials the store has been producing over the last 6 months. Dubbed ‘your one stop hippie shop’, the store sells a wide variety of clothing and other fashion items, inspired by the music and culture of ‘60s and ‘70s.

When visiting Groovy Goods, customers will find a range of affordable family clothing and accessories that come in a wide variety of styles, colors, and fabrics that will keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The store also sells tie-dyes and music tees, home décor such as tapestries and posters, stones, crystals, and incense, and other goods including beauty and body products, and disc golf products for players of all levels.

Groovy Goods has received many positive reviews from customers. For example, Shane Botwin says, “Amazing experience, I was treated like family and talked with everyone there, it felt like a very cozy atmosphere and everyone was just beyond nice. Amazing selection of local artists, always love to support the community.”

Groovy Goods is run by Elaine, a 30-year marketing professional that took on the store that her childhood friend started over 20 years ago. After her friends passing, the store needed a new leader. Elaine stepped in and took the reins. She was not only able to save the jobs at the store, but she rebranded it and has breathed new life into it.  She is a hippie at heart and believes that Des Moines deserves a store that is here for the people. They have a wide array of clothing and accessories and are constantly looking for new designers and craftspeople to provide that unique hippie experience.
