Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (LP) reported today that its engineered wood products operations in Wilmington, N.C. have been temporarily shut down due to the impact of Hurricane Florence.

The Wilmington mill suffered damage in the storm and LP response team has begun assessing the situation. About 149 people are employed at the mill.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by this storm, especially our employees,” LP CEO Brad Southern said in a statement issued by the Nashville, Tenn.-based building products manufacturer.

“We are thankful that as far as we know, none of our employees have been injured during the storm and subsequent flooding over the past few days, however many have damaged homes and some have been displaced by the flooding,” Southern said.

LP has inventory at the mill that was not damaged and plans to continue servicing customers for the near term from inventory on hand at the Wilmington facility.

LP employs 700 total at 3 North Carolina mills, including operations in Roaring River and Roxboro. The Roaring River and Roxboro facilities were not impacted by the storm, LP said.
