Today’s used smartphones are a really smart buy

As tempting as buying a brand new flagship smartphone might be, these days it’s an enormous investment; several of them cost over $1,000. That’s a serious amount of money to spend on a device.

It’s always worth asking yourself if you really need the best of the best. There’s a great selection of perfectly enjoyable, mid-range smartphones that won’t do as much damage to your checking account. But if you do want a flagship, it’s also important to remember that buying a used phone can potentially save you hundreds of dollars — and if you’re doing it right, there are few downsides.

In this episode of Workflow, you’ll get some pointers from Verge video director Becca Farsace on how and where to find a lightly used phone.
